2007 Civic Change Award 
Celebrating individuals and organizations addressing the dropout issue in school.

  • Funding Source:  Pew Partnership for Civic Change
  • Eligibility:  Non-Profits, Schools, Teachers - Nominations are accepted for a person, program,, or organization addressing the dropout issue inschool. 
  • Grant Size:  $2,500 to be donated to an organization of the recipient's choice
  • Application Deadline:  March 31, 2007  
  • Purpose:  To celebrate an individual or organization utilizing community resources to help keep young people in school.

  • Eligibility:  High school science, mathematics, or technology teachers can enter their teams.
  • Grant Size:  Up to 18 grants of $10,000 each will be awarded
  • Application Deadline:  April 27, 2007  
  • Purpose:  To support teams of high school students, teachers, and an industry mentor inventing something of use to the school or community.

ING Unsung Heroes Award  
Recognizing Education's Unsung Heroes

  • Eligibility:  Full-time educators, teachers, principals, paraprofessionals or staff employed at an accredited K-12 Public or Private school. 
  • Grant Size:  100 hundred semifinalists receive awards of $2,000 each. Three finalists receive prizes of: 1st place= $25,000, 2nd Place= $10,000, 3rd place= $5,000 
  • Application Deadline:  April 30, 2007 
  • Purpose:  Banking, insurance, and asset management company ING recognizes K-12 educators who pioneer new methods and techniques that improve student learning.

  • Grant Size:  Five winners will receive a wireless lab with 20 notebooks, or tablet PCs, three wireless access points, one mobile cart, and Computrace security software.

  • Eligibility:  Full-time, certified or licensed U.S. special education teachers who are highly dedicated and skilled, and at least in their third year of teaching.

2006 Presidential Awards for Excellence In Mathematics and Science Teaching

  • Funding Source:  National Science Foundation 
  • Eligibility:  Full-time US teachers of K-6 grade math or science classes in public or private schools who have at least five years' experience
  • Grant Size:  $10,000  and up to 108 winners also receive a presidential citation and a paid trip to Washington, DC to attend a week-long series of recognition events and professional development opportunities.
  • Application Deadline:  Final May 1, 2007 - Teachers must be nominated by a principal, teacher, student, or other member of the general public by the beginning of April.  
  • Purpose:  To recognize exceptional middle and high school math and science teachers nationwide
